OKAY LISTEN UP (OR READ).
Two days of SYF Central Judging of Concert Bands has passed and I'm sure all of you have heard the results, which mostly are beyond what everyone had expected.
HOWEVER.
ALL THAT DOES NOT MATTER.
Look here.
Swiss winds is Swiss winds. YTWO is YTWO. CTwinds is CTwinds.
And whatever other bands there are, CHSSB, SPSMB, VSB etc.
DON'T COMPARE.
ZWinds have their own style of music and playing style, which is also unique for every other band. There's no way to predict what the judges will award you guys but there's no need to worry about that at all.
Most people would think SYF and getting a Gold/Gold with Honours is everything to Band. But that's utter rubbish.
Let your passion show through during your performance, exert that last bit of effort into the final lap and most of all, have fun with your fellow band members.
That's all that matters.
As long as you have done your best, there's nothing left to regret.
Most of the current members participating in this SYF wouldn't have had a taste of how it feels like performing under these circumstances yet. This is different from Primary Schools SYF and Dance/Choir/CO SYFs. It's normal to be nervous but it's definitely important to be confident onstage and play your music like you always have rehearsed.
There's no more room for remorse, depression or other negative feelings. Channel all of that emotion into your playing. Pay attention. Listen and watch Mr. Chew. Remember what you've learnt and apply it 100%.
This is ZWinds' time.
Face it. Do it. Accomplish it. Own it.
